"Excavaciones performáticas", is the result of a collaboration with Museo Antropológico y de Arte Contemporáneo (MAAC) y el CID-Guayaquil, Ecuador. The virtual festival was planned to take place from May 18 - 20, 2021. It was postponed for May 25 to the 28. The festival hosts masterclasses, video-danza-presentations based on the current situation of artists inspired by the resources in the museum's archives. Additionally, there are conversations with experts in different areas such as: anthropology, cultural journalism and academic dance research.

The Healing Power of Expression: Dramaturgy of the Anthropology of Being

Abstract: This paper revolves around the idea of being as a source of creativity in the making of one's own personal myth. This myth is the essence of a ritual that serves as score for a performance piece in which the dancer becomes healed from his traumas. Because of the methodology used to create the choreography and text, namely the "hero's journey" the process fits within the anthropology of the self or the study of one's own life experiences, specifically those that have marked (similar to an archeological site found in the subconscious mind) the psychological, physical and emotional development of the dancer. The artistic process involves movement, voice and spoken word, which carefully documented and analyzed through the phenomenological approach, reveals the archeological sites of trauma. Based on this anthropological understanding of trauma, the dramaturgy of the piece is built as testament of the importance of embodying pain as a way to not only cope with adverse life experiences, but also win. The journey of the main character reveals the phases of the rites of passage seen through the optics of migration. The production aspect of the performance is mobile, adaptable and permeable, offering the dancer and the audience, both, a forum on which to share a similar experience of empowerment, success and forwardness.
