In the Afro-Cuban pantheon, Afrekete is the ocean goddess whose majestic, maternal presence is marked by her whirling blue and white skirts. Creation Ballet Company's's artistic director and choreographer, Pedro Pablo Peña, found inspiration in these goddess to create the ballet Afrekete. Jorge Luis Morejon danced Oloddumare, whom in the Yoruban believe system is a creative force that drove the establishment of existence and the entire universe. He shared the stage with dancers Oscar Ruge and Heriberto Diaz, among others.
